This report, Water and Wellbeing: Water afforability and impacts on individual and community wellbeing, documents the lived experiences of people in Coober Pedy and Ceduna who face unaffordable and poor-quality water. It shows how water insecurity forces families to make impossible trade-offs — between food, hygiene, and paying bills — with flow-on effects for health, mental wellbeing, family relationships, cultural practices, and trust in local institutions. The findings highlight that water is not just a utility, but a fundamental determinant of dignity, equity, and community wellbeing.
