SCHADS Award Briefing
In 2025 the Fair Work Commission found that there was gender-based undervaluation in several SCHADS award classification, and in June this year it made significant changes to the structure of the award – including replacing the current job/award classification schedules (B, C, E, and F) with a single new schedule.
This is not just a technical award update; it is major workforce reform that will affect a large part of the community service sector.
The new SCHADS Award structure comes into effect from 1 October 2027, but some changes will happen earlier and organisations may need to do a lot of preparation for the changes.
SACOSS will be holding a sector briefing to help organisations understand what the changes are and what the transition will involve. The briefing will cover:
- Background to the changes
- An overview of the new Award
- What your organisation can do in preparation for the transition
- COSS network advocacy and work
- Where to from here
Date: Monday 10 August
Time: 11.30am – 12.30pm
Venue: Online via Zoom – acccess links will be provided upon registration
