In collaboration with ACOSS, QCOSS, the Justice and Equity Centre, and other consumer advocates, SACOSS has made a joint submission to the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water on the 2025 Default Market Offer reforms. The submission calls for stronger consumer protections, simpler and fairer pricing structures, and the removal of unnecessary costs that drive up bills. With energy affordability continuing to be a significant challenge, the recommendations aim to ensure the DMO genuinely protects consumers — particularly low-income households and those experiencing energy hardship — while creating a more transparent and equitable retail energy market
