Community Sector Forum on the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence and its recommendations
The South Australian Council of Social Service and Embolden, South Australia’s peak body for specialist domestic, family and sexual violence services, invite you to attend a community sector forum about the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.
The Royal Commission released its landmark report With Courage: South Australia’s Vision Beyond Violence in August, alongside the Voices Report, which powerfully captures the experiences of survivors.
The Minister for Child Protection, Minister for Women, Minister for Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence, the Hon. Katrine Hildyard MP, will give the opening address. This will be followed by an overview of the Royal Commission’s process and report, given by Kim Eldridge, formerly the Executive Director of the Royal Commission. A member of the Royal Commission’s Aboriginal Partnership Committee, Olive Bennell, will then speak.
These inputs will be followed by a panel discussion, including Mary Leaker (CEO of Embolden), Melissa Gibson (CEO of Child and Family Focus SA), and Amanda Brownlie who will talk from her own experience. The CEO of SACOSS, Catherine Earl, will facilitate the discussion and there will be time for questions and a broader discussion about what the Royal Commission’s recommendations mean for our community services sector and what the next steps might be for South Australia.
